Urijah Faber is said to be one of the most innovative fighters in MMA history. I think he is creative because he has a fight style that is more technical and flashy than anbody else. Faber invented several new moves based off of wrestling and jui-jitsu.
This is a Smokey Yunik built car. He is one of the most revolutionary people to ever work on cars.
He built several Indy Cars and Stock Cars like the one below.

Straw Project
What was the process that you and your partner used to create your tower?
We are able to get the straws to stay connected by putting them into eachother farther. We can carefully tie the supports to the uprights. In the end we can not overcome the straws weakness and the tower implodes.
What could you have used more of?
We could use a better design. It needs to be completely upright. The straws will not support any tensile load. It needs to only support compressional loads.
Do you feel that your tower was successful? Explain?

Based on the problem solving model what resources would have helped your group be more successful?
A stronger a straw would have definitely helped our design.
Reflecting on this project, what are three out of the box ideas that might work to increase the possible success of your tower?
Cut the bends out of the straws.
Brace the straws at every point where they start to flex.
Use a spire to get a modest amount of extra height.
Chair project
Day 1 We researched a chair design by looking at pictures online.
Day 2 We designed foundations to support books. The purpose of this was to explore what techniques worked best for supporting large amounts of weight. Mitch and I decided to use a "honeycomb" design. We linked several circles together at about .5" high. This system worked best. It supported 38 books. We learned that the more structures you put under the books, the better the structures work. We also learned that weight needs to be spread over an area to be effectively supported.
Completed Chair We used four main pieces to get the basic shape of the chair. Then slots were cut into the main sections. We inserted slats into the sections to create cells. Glue is applied at all of the joints. On top and on the sides, covers are applied to conceal the inners of the chair and reduace pressure points.
The Water Balloon Launcher* Final Projrect: Design a way to launch a water balloon that doesn't involve just throwing the balloon with your hand.

To develope the launcher, we looked around on the net for different launchers. We saw a lot of sling shots and pneumatic launchers. We decided to use a sling shot, but it has a barrel and ram to shoot the balloons.
Our design has been changed. The ram is composed of different materials than originally intended. The springs changed from trampoline springs to bungee cords. The method of adjusting altitude has also changed. They basically came about because the original design was over engineered. trampoline springs were too stiff, the ram is simplified, and there was no plan to adjust the altitude so we made that up as we went.
The design should be extremely accurate, however the efficiency is questionable. There is a good chance that the balloons won't have very much range.
The most difficult part of the project has been building a gun, it's a new experience, and hopefully it works well.
During this project, I've realized or reminded myself that the plan you start with is not the same one you end with. It has changed several times in the last few days and will likely change again. We have a good vision, just not a solid game plan for creating it.
